I caught up with Gabz to discuss what BGT was like, how gigging is for her, and of course, the question everyone wants to ask, what are her future plans.
Hi Gabz, how are you?
I’m great thank you! Hope you’re well!
I’m great thank you! So people will know you from being on the 2013 series of Britain’s Got Talent. How was the BGT experience for you?
It was incredible! I had a really amazing time & have learnt so much from it!
Your first audition was one which will be remembered for being such a breathtaking performance of your own song, Lighters (The One). What was the response like after that first audition?
Thank you! It was crazy! I had literally no idea it was going to go that well & the comments from the judges were amazing & then to see so much support online & when I meet people is just so nice!
The public clearly loved you! And since BGT you’ve performed up and down the country. How’s that been for you?
Thanks! It’s been amazing, I’ve got to go to loads of new places & am so thankful that 3 years after I still have people supporting me!
Is there a certain city which you love performing in?
I honestly love to perform anywhere! I have done loads of gigs up north (near Blackpool) & I love it up there but my local gigs (near London) are so fun too & I’ve even performed in places like Glasgow & Newcastle & they were crazy!! I have fun wherever I perform 🙂
I have listened to your single Up, and I’ve got to say I love it!! The video has been released for a while now, what’s the response from your fans been like?
My new single ‘Up’ is available to pre-order now but isn’t actually released until 5th August but the video has been out for a little while now & the response has been amazing! I’m so thankful that everyone likes it because it has been a long time since I’ve released any music so I was excited to see what people would think & luckily my supporters like it!!
You’re a very talented songwriter for your age, do you have a certain process that you go through before writing a song?
Thank you! It’s different every time actually! Sometimes I’ll have a melody & then find it on the piano & then write lyrics & sometimes I’ll write lyrics first & then music so it all depends on how I feel really!
Who are you musical influences?
Jessie J & Ed Sheeran, I look up to them a lot as they are both amazing singer/songwriters so I aspire to be like them!
If you could collab with anyone, who would you pick?
Either Jessie J, Ed Sheeran or I’d love to work with Fifth Harmony!
What does the rest of 2016 hold for you? Hopefully, we can see you at some more gigs!
The rest of my EP will be released 2nd September & yeah I’ll be performing as well! You can check out my events page on my website to see if I’m performing near you: www.gabzofficial.com/events & I’ll be performing my new music!
Finally, to all your fans reading this, do you have a message for them?
Thank you so much for all the amazing support & I really hope you’ll all like the new music! 🙂
