Now, anyone who knows me and has read any of my previous posts about Adam’s events, View My Gig, will know that I rave on and on about them each time. But within good reason right?
There’s only so many times I can say how well organised and smooth these events are, and if you’ve never been to a View My Gig you have to experience one because they really do go above and beyond. The thing I love the most about these events is that not only do you have known artists performing, but it is also an incredible platform for the next generation of artists, and gives them a chance to showcase their work.
On Saturday 14th January it was Kirby Frost’s sold out, pretty incredible, headline show in Burton On Trent. Adam is Kirby’s manager, and together they put on another amazing gig. Performing in her hometown, Kirby did not disappoint at all. I’ve supported Kirby for a while now, and know how talented she is, but somehow, on Saturday, she managed to exceed my expectations. It’s so lovely to see hard work paying off for someone so deserving. Kirby performed two incredible sets, singing songs which left people speechless. One of my favourite songs she performed was a cover of Jessie J’s ‘Nobody’s Perfect’. Jessie J is an incredible artist in her own right and has such a unique style to her voice, and for Kirby to cover this song, taking it and making it her own was incredible. I felt like I was listening to an original song, rather than a cover. I recorded a little bit of it for you guys to see, so click here!
As you can probably tell from how positively I’m speaking, Kirby smashed her headline gig, and that was just the start of what is going to be a pretty impressive year for her. Recently announced was the great news that Kirby will be supporting Sam Bailey on tour on the 4th March at The New Theatre in Oxford, so if you are nearby grab tickets to see both these amazing ladies in action! 2017 is going to be amazing for her, and you won’t want to miss what she gets up to, so make sure you check out all her social links to keep up to date with her.
Of course, as well as Kirby there was some really good support acts as well. Mason Noise, Ben Clark and Mytton Sanneh all gave amazing sets, and what was so lovely to see was also the support they gave to Kirby throughout the entire night. I would highly recommend checking out all the support artists because they were all such talented people and I enjoyed all their sets!
Kirby’s headline gig was a huge success, and I for one, can not wait to see where 2017 will take her. I’d like to say a huge thank you to Adam, Kirby and everyone at VMG, for inviting me along, I had a great night! Make sure you keep up to date with Kirby, and I’ll finish this off by leaving you Kirby’s original song ‘Head vs Heart’ to have a listen to.
